Industry veteran joins Huddle House as iconic franchise continues growth beyond its core market
Huddle House, the iconic 24-hour diner and breakfast franchise, has named Jenn Townsend the new Executive Chef and Director of Menu Development. Townsend previously led menu development at Arby’s, Blimpie and Church’s Chicken.
Huddle House is expanding nationally — opening new locations and increasing same-store sales. Our core customers visit often, and having new and limited-time-offer menu items increases brand loyalty and helps franchisees increase margins.
“We expect Jenn to have an immediate impact,” says Huddle House CEO Michael Abt. “Her passion and creativity, combined with a deep understanding of franchisees and customers, will be important as we enter a new era of growth for Huddle House.”
Townsend, who is a native of Atlanta, says she is thrilled about the opportunity to lead the menu strategy for Huddle House when we’re growing and innovating faster than we have in years.
“Being from Georgia, I have a sweet spot for Southern comfort food,” Jenn says. “This is a tremendous opportunity. Huddle House is going in the right direction — we are opening new stores and increasing same-store sales, and I look forward to playing an important role in that growth.”
Founded in 1964, the Huddle House franchise is celebrating more than five decades as a full-service family restaurant franchise known for serving “Any Meal. Any Time.” Typically open 24 hours, Huddle House serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day. The menu offers a mix of Southern-inspired comfort food, including signature Big House breakfasts, crispy hash browns, creamy grits, golden waffles, and fluffy omelets — all made to order. Other favorites include Big Bold Burgers, Big House sandwich platters, country-fried steak with green beans, and marinated grilled chicken with sweet potato fries.
With more than 400 restaurants open or under development, our 50-year old franchise is growing well beyond its original core market in the Southeast and into markets in the West, Midwest and Northeast. 2014 was the most successful period of growth in recent years for the Huddle House franchise, and 2015 is shaping up in a similar fashion.
Earlier this year, Huddle House announced plans to accelerate its pace of growth over the next three years. The growth will be accomplished through franchising by single-unit and multi-unit investors in a range of market sizes, including urban areas, small towns, travel centers, and convenience sites. In addition, Huddle House is offering incentives to new franchisees who take over and remodel existing stores.
