Business Insider, a national publication focused on trends in the business world, recently profiled Huddle House CEO Michael Abt to get his perspective on success in business and in life.
Everything hasn’t been easy for the Michael, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, a form of cancer, at the age of 33. That he deserves the recognition of a major business publication goes without saying: after battling cancer, the Huddle House CEO has overseen the breakfast franchise’s rapid growth. There are more than 400 Huddle House locations open or under development around the country, with plans to build 100 more locations in the next three years.

Michael’s vision is best reflected in the fact that Huddle House is not only strengthening in our current markets, but also expanding into major metropolitan cities, suburban areas, and college towns. During the first nine months of 2014, the Huddle House breakfast franchise signed 18 new franchises and two new multi-unit deals for a total of more than 30 restaurants beyond our core markets in the Southeast. We’ve added to our franchise sales staff to support an aggressive campaign and fulfill our vision of expansion over the next three years.
