Huddle House franchises continue to pick up sales momentum in new markets
When Travis Hackworth realized there was no place in Richlands, Virginia, to enjoy a diverse menu of Southern-inspired comfort foods at all hours, he knew opening a Huddle House would be a smart move.
He was right. His Huddle House franchise broke the family restaurant chain’s first-week sales records when it opened.
“It was the best opening week in Huddle House history by over 70 percent,” says Christina Chambers, Huddle House’s Vice President of Franchise Development.
“There was a need in Richlands for a comfortable, local place for people who crave Southern, homestyle food,” says Travis, who had his grand opening on Oct. 10. There were giveaways, drawings and discounts, plus a bounce house for kids.
Huddle House CEO Michael Abt is pleased with Travis’ accomplishment.
It’s great entrepreneurs like Travis who have a passion for people and a passion for food that make our restaurants so successful,” says Michael. “It’s an exciting time to be a Huddle House franchisee, as interest in our franchise opportunity has never been higher.”
The 24-hour, Southern-inspired breakfast franchise is known for serving affordable, unapologetically homestyle food in a warm, friendly environment. Huddle House locations are often beloved gathering places in their communities — places where residents and travelers can get breakfast, lunch and dinner any time of the day or night. With more than 400 restaurants open and under development, the 51-year-old franchise is growing well beyond its original core market in the Southeast and into markets in the Midwest and Northeast.
Huddle House is a comfortable gathering space
The Richlands Huddle House is a freestanding location that reflects our new look and branding. It is modern and inviting and has warm colors, contemporary furniture and vibrant LED lighting. It seats up to 117 guests.
“What I really like about the Huddle House concept is that it really does become a local gathering place in every community. What makes this even more special is it also happens to be my community,” says Travis.
The success of our ongoing brand redesign recently made the cover of Restaurant Facility Business magazine; they called us a master of “the art of evolution” for changing with the times throughout our 51-year history.
At breakfast franchise locations that have gone through our redesign, owners are finding that the fresh look is having a substantial effect on their revenue streams. As published in our Aug. 10 2015 FDD, our top 20% remodeled stores experienced a 33.8% increase in average annualized unit volume in their first year after remodel over the previous year. All locations will be remodeled and designed in the new look by 2019.
Huddle House franchise owner proud to serve his community
“The Huddle House menu appeals to all ages and all demographics, which is why it was so attractive to open a Richlands location,” says Travis. “Whether it’s for meetings, lunch breaks or Sunday-morning gatherings, the demand for comfort food served in a warm atmosphere has never been greater.”
Typically open 24-hours, Huddle House serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. Our menu offers a mix of Southern-inspired comfort food, including signature Big House breakfasts, crispy hash browns, creamy grits, golden waffles and fluffy omelets, all made to order. Other favorites include Big Bold Burgers, Big House sandwich platters, country fried steak with green beans and marinated grilled chicken with sweet potato fries.
