How Huddle House gives back
When a deadly wildfire swept through the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee last fall, killing 14 people and destroying hundreds of homes and businesses in Gatlinburg and surrounding areas, Huddle House stepped in. We launched a nationwide campaign, inviting guests to donate $1 towards the Sevier County Fire Relief Fund.
“Huddle House was founded upon the principles of Southern hospitality — to be a warm, friendly environment that brings the community together,” says CEO Michael Abt. “Our goal is to generate some goodwill for not only those who have been affected by the wildfires, but also among our customers who see the need and want to help.”
During the fundraiser, which lasted through the end of December, our guests’ donations helped people directly affected by the fires buy clothing, pay for temporary housing and provide other necessities as the area rebuilds. Huddle House also treated First Responders in the Chattanooga, TN, area to a free hot meal in January to show appreciation and support for all the public safety professionals who go above and beyond for our communities. They were also granted a 20% discount on all future visits.
Our corporate culture
The tragedy in Sevier County garnered national attention, and Huddle House is proud to be able to help the area rebuild. We care about the communities we’re in, and as a company we embrace the philosophy of giving back to those who give so much to us. On a more local level, our franchisees get involved in everything from sponsoring Little League teams to raising money for local charities.
