Huddle House makes it easy to bring family members into leadership roles to build your family’s future.
When Marla and Bobby Byram Jr. opened their first Huddle House family restaurant franchise in Osceola, AR, in 2005, son Bobby Byram III was just 12 years old. Today, the 25-year-old is getting ready to open the Byram family’s second location, in Paragould, AR, and he can’t imagine any other life.
“It’s all I know,” says the younger Byram. “I mean, I’ve never done anything else.”
Of course, growing up, the younger Bobby spent a lot of time considering other career options. One friend’s family owned a pest control business. Another had a snack food route. But in the end, operating his family’s diner franchise was not only all Byram knew, it was all he loved. Today, as vice president of GlenMar Enterprises, Byram is taking on a greater role in the family business.
“Our target city right now, after Paragould, is Jonesboro, AR,” he says. “We’re looking to try and have another one open there within two to three years after getting the one up in Paragould.”
Franchise support where you need it
The Huddle House corporation is structured to accommodate everyone from hometown owner-operators to large multi-unit owners with Huddle House locations in several states.
With a number of company-owned locations, Huddle House keeps up with what it’s really like to run our restaurant franchises. That helps us better understand the franchisee mindset on issues from inventory control to how kitchen design affects customer wait times. It’s the kind of perspective that informed our Evolution redesign, which has led to 30+% increases in average unit volumes for stores that have introduced the updated look.
Our seasoned franchise team is dedicated to providing our franchisees, large and small, with the level of support they need. When families are intent on working together, we’ll work with them so they understand how their evolving roles contribute to the growth of their business, and we’ll work with them to help them calibrate their changing business goals.
Family franchise, family business
Huddle House was the right choice for the Byram family, and the younger Byram looks forward to the day when he can introduce a family of his own to the Byram business – the Huddle House franchise business.
“I think it’s just natural for kids growing up, especially in a family business, to go through that stage of ‘what do I want to do whenever I grow up?’ I kind of played with some ideas, but I decided to just stick with this, and here I am,” he says. “I’m happy that I’ve done it, and I’m ready to help my dad and mom continue to build our business and expand for many stores to come.”
