Huddle House Opens First Southern Diner Franchise in Northeast

Expansion of our Southern diner franchise into East Orange, NJ, demonstrates how our brand is building momentum.

Customer Eating At A Huddle HouseWe just opened our first Huddle House location in the Northeast, and we are thrilled to see how the residents of East Orange, NJ, have welcomed us. While diners are certainly a part of Northeastern culture, our brand of Southern breakfast diner is new to that part of the country.

Since our founding in the 1960s in Decatur, GA, Huddle House has embodied all the best aspects of Southern hospitality. We’re open for all dayparts, including late night, with many of our locations open 24 hours a day. Guests love our “Any Meal. Any Time.” offering, and they’re especially fond of our classic breakfast fare, available all day. With delicious dishes to choose from such as biscuits and gravy, golden waffles, and fluffy omelets, sales from our breakfast items constitute about 60% of our overall sales.

That’s great news for franchise owners like Dipen Desai, because breakfast foods tend to cost less and drive higher profit margins.

Why we attract serial entrepreneurs

Desai is an experienced restaurateur and retail owner, having developed businesses with four other franchise concepts in the last 20 years. He was looking for another brand to grow with when he found Huddle House.

“I have been looking for an opportunity to diversify my investment portfolio, and Huddle House is the perfect addition,” says Desai, who has plans in place to open six additional Huddle House restaurants throughout New Jersey. “The food is delicious and the new restaurant design truly stands apart from the competition. Huddle House is a brand that I’m proud to introduce to East Orange and all of New Jersey.”

Of those additional locations, Desai plans to open franchises in Newark and Roselle in the second half of 2017. Desai is one of the entrepreneurs who have signed on at an exciting time for our brand, as we’re planning to expand by adding another 100 units over the next five years.

Our growth strategy includes targeting those areas with the largest potential for the highest reward. One of our strengths is that Huddle House is successful in small communities where other brands refuse to go, and we also thrive in sub-communities in larger towns. We provide a central gathering spot, a hometown hub where the community can connect.
