Huddle House Diner Franchise Closes 1st Quarter on a High Note

Diner franchise continues expansion into new areas with 15 restaurants.

Like capping off a great breakfast with a great cup of coffee, Huddle House ended the first quarter of the year on a high note with the addition of 15 restaurants in Georgia, Illinois, New York, Texas and Virginia. That’s a solid example of how our 50-year-old diner franchise concept is growing.

Our newest Huddle House locations will include 10 new restaurants in Long Island, NY — a new territory for us; one in Hahira, GA; one in Mount Vernon, IL; one in Forney, TX; one in Newport News, VA, and one in Virginia Beach, VA. We have several more deals in the works that we hope to announce soon.

“By all definitions we had a strong first quarter, putting us in a positive mindset to celebrate our 50 years in business,” says Chief Development Officer Jonathan Benjamin. “The positive changes to our menu and our restaurant design are enhancing the guest experience and creating optimism among franchisees. We’re confident of continued growth this year and beyond.”

Part of the impetus behind our growth spurt is the Evolution redesign of our stores, which features a tower entrance, plush seating, contemporary furniture and vibrant lighting. As part of our effort to keep our diner franchise brand fresh, we set aside $2.5 million for the first 100 franchise partners who committed to remodeling their restaurants by July 31, 2014. They get financial support to help offset remodeling costs and for local marketing efforts.

Waffles With Melted Butter And SyrupCurrently, 21% of the Huddle House diner franchise system has the new look. Those who have already completed the transformation to an Evolution design have seen significant sales increases. By the end of this year, we expect 30% of our restaurants to be remodeled. Every restaurant in our system could be remodeled by the end of 2019.

But even with a modern new look and frequent updates to our menu, we’re staying true to our core values. Just like the first Huddle House restaurant in 1964, all our restaurants provide a gathering place for their communities. Customers can count on being greeted with our signature Southern hospitality, just as they can count on their coffee cups staying full. We serve comfort food, and we’re especially popular for our hearty, homestyle breakfasts, which customers can order 24 hours a day.
