Huddle House Franchise Expands its Reach in Texas

Huddle House, The Kent Companies® join for 20-Unit market area development agreement.

In January, Huddle House opened its ninth Texas restaurant in Tye, a town of about 1,200 just west of Abilene.

The new location is the fourth unit in a 20-unit Market Area Development agreement with The Kent Companies® to expand Huddle House throughout Texas. The Kent Companies is a holding group of six different brands, Huddle House, Baskin-Robbins®, Avis Lube®, Mr. Payroll®, The Loan Shop® and Kent Kwik®.

“We’re looking forward to continuing the strong momentum we’ve built over the past three years,” says Huddle House CEO Michael Abt. “This accomplishment is indicative of our customers’ acceptance and excitement surrounding our expanded menu offerings, our new, refreshed look and more inviting atmosphere.”

Huddle House Cherry WafflesHuddle House is a 24-hour, Southern-style diner franchise concept that serves as the hub of smaller communities. Our menu features breakfast favorites including waffles, steak and eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy; lunch classics like burgers, shakes and fries; updated items like sweet potato fries; and classic dinner entrees like pot roast and mashed potatoes. In 2011, Huddle House introduced a new décor package with flexible seating so even larger groups can come and enjoy “Our House.” Based in Atlanta, Huddle House has 400-plus franchises, primarily throughout the Southeast, Midwest and Southwest.

In 2012, Huddle House achieved its third consecutive year with same-restaurant sales increases, as the brand continued to consistently outperform other restaurants in the family dining segment over the past three years. Huddle House’s innovation in tough economic times has continued to support the brand’s growth. A new restaurant design, which is being adopted by existing locations through a re-imaging program, is delivering sales increases of up to 35%.

“We are very excited about our growing partnership with the Huddle House brand, as the new opening in Tye will continue to strengthen The Kent Companies’® portfolio,” says Alan Brinker, Director of Operations for The Kent Companies®. “Additionally, with other The Kent Companies’® concepts surrounding Tye, we have been able to develop close ties with the local community.”
